THE ACCUMULATION OF HEAVY METALS BY NEW FODDER PLANTS IN THE CITY OF DONETSK

Irene Ostapko Illich's Avenue,110 Donetsk 340059 Ukraine

An intensive economic activity inevitably causes an increase of metals in the atmosphere, soil and water. As a result an index of loading of chemical elements on living organisms abruptly increases. The accumulation of Fe,Mn,Cu,Zn,Co,Cr,Mo,V,Ni,As,Sb,Hg,Ba,Bi,Cd,Pb,Sn,Ag,Sr, Ti,Zr in the overground mass of 22 new fodder plants, the dependence of these elements' content in plants on an ecological type (with respect to moisture)was determined. Our investigations give the grounds to consider the taxonomic, ecological, biochemical principles to be the main in the selection of fodder plants. The biggest content of the examined elements was observed in the last phases of plants' development. The ecological safety of new fodder plants was established, only in some plants there was an exceeding of maximum permissible concentrations of the iron.
