Over 5.6 years all trees over 8cm dbh were censused in a 1ha plot of a subtropical rain forest in São Paulo county, Southeastern Brazil. 97 species were recorded in the second survey, 6 more than in the first. Live trees density, basal area and Shannon-Wienner diversity index increased from 759 individuals/ha to 872 individuals/ha, from 17.03m2 to 19.55m2 and from 3.445 to 3.529 respectively. The yearly dbh increment ranged from 0mm/year to 18mm/year. The overall mortality rate and recruitment rate were 1.67%/year and 3.46%/year, respectively. The site is undergoing changes, maybe recovering after perturbation. *Sponsered by FAPESP, process n. 94/1294-5
