The Food Industry Research and Development Institute launched a culture collection program in 1982. Since then, over 10,000 strains of microorganisms have been collected, including 1444 strains of yeasts and 2959 strains of fungi. In order to perceive fungal biodiversity in Taiwan, we have cooperated with local mycologist and a series of fungal monograph were published as follows: Aspergillus and related teleomorphs from Taiwan, The atlas of wild mushrooms in Taiwan, Atlas of the genus Mucor from Taiwan, Penicillium and related teleomorphs from Taiwan , The cultural atlas of wood-inhabiting Aphyllophorales in Taiwan, Atlas of nematophagous fungi from Taiwan. In addition, systematic study for several groups of fungi, including nematode-trapping fungi, the genera Candida, Rhizopus and Tremella, are also in progress.
