Our largest project since 1981 has been the bryoflora in New Guinea and the neighbouring areas. Bryophytes have been used as phytogeographic indicators, and their vulnerability has been estimated. Two latest projects are the Bryophyte flora of Hunan Province, China, done in cooperation with the Department of Forestry of the Hunan Province of China, and the Hepatic Flora of Singapore in cooperation with the National University of Singapore. Our research is maily based on specimens collected on our excursions , and it results in generic and family revisions of various bryophyte groups. The results are used in ecology and forestry, in compiling national biodiversity accounts, in planning nature reserves, and as material in guide books for ecotourists.
