THE AFFINITIES OF THE TROPICAL POROID AGARIC COMPLEX OF JAVA AND BALI

Kelly P. Collins and Dennis Desjardin, San Francisco State University, San Francisco CA, 94132

The Tropical Poroid Agaric Complex has been a complicated group since its first inception with both Fries and Juhghuhn naming two very different genera Laschia. These are now known to be Auricularia and Poria, respectively. The Complex as it is known today includes vastly different macro-morphological forms such as Poromycena and Dictyopanus. The affinity of these poroid groups and Mycena has long been hypothesized and Corner even insisted (for the most part, correctly) that they were all Mycena sensu stricto. This poster addresses these affinities through the use of molecular data from the nuclear ribosomal RNA large subunit (25-28s) region and specimens collected in Java and Bali in January 1998 and 1999.
