Rhodocybe luteocinnamomea sp. prov., a new species of Section Rubrobrunnea of Rhodocybe, was collected from soil and decaying plant material on Barro Colorado Island, Panama. This species is superficially similar to Rhodocybe pseudonitellina Dennis, originally described from Trinidad, West Indies. Within Section Rubrobrunnea, R. pseudonitellina is considered an isolated taxon since no other species is remotely similar. The two species are closely related but are clearly separated by several characters. Another new taxon collected from Barro Colorado Island represents a new genus and species in the Paxillaceae. This lignicolous fungus has brown, subglobose, strongly verrucose, ornamented basidiospores and strongly gelatinized tissues in the lamella and pileus trama. This new taxon is somewhat reminiscent of the terrestrial genera Ripartites Karsten and Neopaxillus Singer of the Paxillaceae, but the species of these genera never produce gelatinized tramal tissues, and each genus has several other defining characters which our specimens lack. Therefore, this agaric is provisionally named Ixopartites ocula gen. et sp. prov.
