SERRA DA CANASTRA NATIONAL PARK-MINAS GERAIS-BRAZIL: BIGNONIACEAE JUSS

Veridiana V. Scudeller (Vegetal Biology Ph.D. student-UNICAMP/IB/Depto Botânica/Campinas/São Paulo/Brasil)

The goal of this project was to collect information to improve the knowledge and enhance the understanding of the floristic composition of the Serra da Canastra National Park. Field collections were conducted bimonthly from February/94 to January/98. To improve the taxonomic knowledge of Bignoniaceae, accurate identifications, descriptions, illustrations and comments are presented here. Additional data about morphological variation and ecological observations of the local populations are also provided. Fourteen species, belonging to two tribes (Bignonieae and Tecomeae), were identified. In Bignonieae, Arrabidaea were represented by three species, followed by Anemopaegma with two. In Tecomeae, three genera were found (Jacaranda, Tabebuia and Zeyheria) with one species each. (Process 02025000086/93-37)
