Six different probes, including those for plant PP 1 and 2 A and four different lmw HSPs, indicated a strong hybridization to rye cDNA at DIG-labeling. RT-PCR with PP1-specific primers revealed 480 nt fragment generated by leaf and ovary mRNA. In control reaction thioredoxin-like 240 nt-cDNA sequence specifically amplified in presence of ryegrass leaf, anther and pollen mRNAs. Ubiquitous sequences belong, as a rule, to a small multigene families governing biosynthesis of small and average proteins, which are in turn regarded as accomplishing a wide range of biological functions. Stress-adaptive and stabilizing role of ubiquitous sequences in gametogenesis is discussed.
