Parque Nacional Amboró in the eastern Andes of the Department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, currently contains about 600,000 hectares. The flora area includes adjacent access routes. The elevation ranges from 250 to 3050 meters above sea level. The major forest types include lowland evergreen rain forest, semi-deciduous subtropical forest, arid inter-Andean valleys with dry forest and cacti, cloud forest, and sub-páramo, and must be one of the most biologically diverse national parks in the world. The current flora manuscript lists 1200 genera and 3000 species of vascular plants, for the Angiosperms there are 172 families, 1130 genera and 2775 species. About 2000 additional collections from the region at New York Botanical Garden are being identified, the total vascular flora will likely exceed 3500 species.
