The American Society of Plant Physiologists was founded in 1924 to promote the development of plant physiology, encourage and publish research in plant physiology, and to promote the interests and growth of plant science in general.

Over the decades the society has evolved and expanded to provide a forum for molecular and cellular biology as well as serving the basic interests of plant science. ASPPs membership spans six continents and our members work academia, government laboratories, industrial and commercial environments, as well as the student community. The society plays a key role in uniting the international plant science disciplines.

Join your colleagues and become part of the world's most progressive and influential plant biology organization.

Your ASPP Membership Benefits:

  • Membership in a Worldwide Professional Scientific Society: Membership allows you to actively participate in the society that exists exclusively to advance the development and growth of plant physiology and related plant science disciplines. It provides you with the broadest possible access to an international circle of plant science colleagues, their research findings, and entrée into their educational symposia and meetings.

  • Free Electronic Access: Current members will receive FREE access to our two leading Plant Biology Research Journals Plant Physiology and THE PLANT CELL featuring: full content of each issue - including all tables and figures; full-text searching by key word; PDF integration: print out articles in the same format found in the printed journals; graphics expandable to two levels of enlargement; Medline links and GenBank hyperlinks; fast international connectivity; on-line reader help.

  • Sectional Society Support : ASPP supports the activities of its affiliated geographical sectional societies, allowing ASPP members to benefit from regional involvement.

  • Job Bank : ASPP maintains a job bank that can assist members searching for positions in plant physiology and organizations looking to fill vacant positions. Job vacancy postings are now posted and updated weekly on ASPP's web page.

  • Annual Meeting Membership Opportunities : Members have the opportunity to: present scientific poster or symposia at annual meetings; have abstracts published by ASPP; participate in the exchange of the latest plant science data, techniques and theories; network with colleagues, and obtain information on state-of-the-art products, services, publications and equipment from exhibitors. On-line abstract submission and registration is now encouraged and an on-line searchable index of abstracts is accessible on ASPP's web page prior to each year's annual meeting.

  • Public Affairs Program : ASPP sponsors a cohesive effort to educate educational communities, government officials, and the public on the benefits derived from the research and work of plant physiologists. This program also coordinates the efforts of ASPP with related scientific professional societies.

  • ASPP Education Foundation : The mission of the Foundation is to promote and support education in the plant sciences and to enhance the role of plant sciences in the global society.

  • http://aspp.org: ASPP's home page on the Internet allows access to Society activities through the World Wide Web.
