Description

"Stem mostly subterranean to 10-20 cm diam., or more. Leaves mostly 2-15 in the crown, 80-110 cm long, rachis not or scarcely twisted; pinnae 50-l00, simple, longest 15-35 cm long, 7-12 mm wide, with 5-11 prominent veins below; petiole 25-50 cm long. Male cones c. 15 cm long, c. 4 cm diam., spines to 1.2 cm long. Female cones 15-20 cm long, 7.5-9 cm diam.; seeds c. 2.5 cm long, almost as wide, reddish" (1).
