Maritime Siberia, central Kamchatka, extreme NE China (Heilongjiang), North Korea, Sakhalin, the Kulil Islands, N Japan (Hokkaido), with ssp. hondoensis in central and southern Honshu (1). For example, it occurs N along Sea of Okhotsk coast to Magadan (Russia); "an ecological counterpart of Sitka spruce" (2).Big Tree
