Taxonomic notes

Syn: Abies jezoensis Sieb. & Zucc.; P. ajanensis Fischer ex Trautv. & Meyer; P. microsperma (Lindl.) Carrière; P. kamtchatkensis Lacas.; P. manshurica Nakai. Two varieties, Picea jezoensis ssp. jezoensis var. komarovii (V.N. Vasiljev) Cheng & Fu (syn: P. komarovii V.N. Vasiljev) and Picea jezoensis ssp. hondoensis (Mayr) P. Schmidt (syn: P. hondoensis Mayr; P. jezoensis var. hondoensis (Mayr) Rehder) (1).

Description

Range

Maritime Siberia, central Kamchatka, extreme NE China (Heilongjiang), North Korea, Sakhalin, the Kulil Islands, N Japan (Hokkaido), with ssp. hondoensis in central and southern Honshu (1). For example, it occurs N along Sea of Okhotsk coast to Magadan (Russia); "an ecological counterpart of Sitka spruce" (2).
